As a Social Entrepreneur, Radhika Mitra is Helping to Shape a Better World
Radhika is a young entrepreneur with a strong desire to give back to society. Her passion towards art and philanthropy has led her to found Renaissance Now Corporation, a 501c3 non-profit, to level the playing field for underprivileged artists internationally. Her pursuit and interest in technical applications and social networking to advance social causes by revenues and awareness has made her the spokesperson of AAUW (American association of University Women) for young women pursuing careers in science and technology fields as well as being a 4-year leader in a youth advisory council for DoSomething.org. She is currently majoring in electrical engineering and computer science and has plans to incorporate her technical endeavors with her entrepreneurship.
Radhika was selected as the Sandy Williams Alumni Legacy Scholar by the Alumni Advisory Board in 2010. Radhika describes her reaction to receiving the honor as unforgettable: “I will never forget that evening—when the Alumni Advisory Board and Mr. Sandy Williams called to tell me that I had been selected as the Sandy Williams Alumni Legacy Scholar (the first one with his name attached to it). I recall watching the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation video during my 2010 Banquet and seeing the impact that Mr. Williams and Coca-Cola Scholars are making around the world – it just blew me away. To be the first Alumni Legacy Scholar representing Sandy Williams’ legacy is a huge honor and a great source of encouragement for continuing to engage in philanthropic work through my personal endeavors. Mr. Sandy Williams inspires me with everything that he has done and is currently doing. I hope to live up to his name and example with my work and contributions.”
