Scholars & Alumni Connecting
Omar Viramontes (2010), Cooper Yerby (2015), and Lena Benson (2002) attended the MALDEF awards in Los Angeles as guests of Peter Villegas (VP, Latin Affairs) and The Coca-Cola Company. They snapped this picture with California Secretary of State Alex Padilla.
Kyle Baldwin (2008) and Kate Wesler (2010) saw the Rockettes together at Radio City Music Hall in NYC! Kate has friends that are Rockettes so they were able to get a backstage tour after the show where they met Ted the camel, a 20 year veteran of the show.
CCSF staff and friends Carolyn Norton, Jane Hopkins, Patti Ross, Mark Davis, and Ryan Rodriguez met up with Lesley Truitt Wainwright (1994) and Alice Park (1999) at Jany Allen Brown‘s (1992) annual Chili Cookoff for the Atlanta food bank.
Heather McGonegle and Kristina Gisonde met up with fellow 1999 Coke Scholar Johanna Sanchez when Johanna was visiting NYC over the summer. The three women met and bonded during the 2013 Leadership Summit and have stayed in touch ever since!
Justin J. Pearson (2013) and his mom and uncle visited The Coca-Cola Company while in Atlanta for his brother’s wedding.
Connie Liu (2011), currently a grad student researching in the High Power Electric Propulsion Lab at Georgia Tech, came by to visit at Coca-Cola. We had a great chat about her time at SpaceX and other Coke Scholars she has connected with.
CCSF hit the road last September, visiting Coke Scholars in Boston, New Haven, Princeton, Philadelphia, and Chicago, connecting with over 225 Scholars!
